What does it mean that God is spirit?

God has no inherent physical form

John 4:24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.

What does it mean that God is infinite?

​

God has no limitations in His power, presence and knowledge

Psalm 145:3 Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable ;

Isaiah 40:25-31

25 To whom then will you compare me,
    that I should be like him? says the Holy One.
26 Lift up your eyes on high and see:
    who created these?
He who brings out their host by number,
    calling them all by name;
by the greatness of his might
    and because he is strong in power,
    not one is missing.

27 Why do you say, O Jacob,
    and speak, O Israel,
“My way is hidden from the Lord,
    and my right is disregarded by my God”?
28 Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
    the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary;

What does it mean that God is eternal?

God has no beginning or end

Psalm 90:2 Before the mountains were brought forth,
    or ever you had formed the earth and the world,
    from everlasting to everlasting you are God. 

Isaiah 57:15 For thus says the One who is high and lifted up,
    who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy:
“I dwell in the high and holy place,
    and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit,
to revive the spirit of the lowly,
    and to revive the heart of the contrite.

What does it mean that God is immutable?

God does not change nor improve, for He is perfect Malachi 3:6“For I the Lord do not change; therefore you, O children of Jacob, are not consumed.  

James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.

What are attributes?

​

Attributes are the qualities that describe who God is. One attribute cannot be exalted over another. No two attributes can be in conflict.
