What are God's attributes?

God is Holy

¨God is set apart from creation." Psalm 113:4-6 The Lord is high above all nations,
    and his glory above the heavens!

5 Who is like the Lord our God,
    who is seated on high,
6 who looks far down
    on the heavens and the earth?

To be holy is not only to be set apart from sin, but set unto purity. To be holy is to be positively pure and negatively apart from sin.

Expressions of His holiness:

1. Righteousness:  God always conforms to His own holy standard. Neh. 9:8 You found his heart faithful before you, and made with him the covenant to give to his offspring the land of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Jebusite, and the Girgashite. And you have kept your promise, for you are righteous.

Psalm 145:17 The Lord is righteous in all his ways and kind in all his works.

2. Justice: God exacts full payment from those that violate His holy standard

Rom. 3:26

It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

Zeph. 3:5 The Lord within her is righteous; he does no injustice;
every morning he shows forth his justice; each dawn he does not fail;
but the unjust knows no shame

and gives full reward to those that meet it

Rom. 2:6-11 He will render to each one according to his works:

7 to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life;

8 but for those who are self-seeking[a] and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury.

9 There will be tribulation and distress for every human being who does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek,

10 but glory and honor and peace for everyone who does good, the Jew first and also the Greek.

11 For God shows no partiality.

3. Wrath: God has a holy hatred of sin

Ps. 45:7  You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness.Therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your companions;

Prov. 6:16-19 There are six things that the Lord hates,seven that are an abomination to him:
17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue,
and hands that shed innocent blood,
18 a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil,
19 a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.

and of people that refuse to be separated from their sins

Ps. 5:5 The boastful shall not stand before your eyes; you hate all evildoers.

 ( Jeremiah 44:4, Mal. 1:3; Rom. 9:13)

4. Jealousy: God has a holy zeal to defend what is rightfully His.

Ex. 20:5 You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me

Deut. 4:24 For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God

(Joshua 24:19; Nahum 1:2)
